РИМСКИ ГРАДОВИ НА ТЛУ СРБИЈЕ
Увод
Територија Србије, осим Бачке и већег дела Баната, налазила се шест векова у склопу Римске империје. За то време настали су велики градови (Сирмијум, Сингидунум, Виминацијум, Наис...). У њима су подизане палате, позоришта, амфитеатри, јавна купатила са фрескама и мозаицима велике вредности. Сем градова, отворени су и многи рудници, изграђени добри путеви и подигнуто је неколико царских палата и летњиковца (Ромулијана, Медијана). Неке од ових споменика осварили су, по жељама и налогу самих царева, најчувенији градитељи и уметници, а међу њима има и оних који су од највећег значаја за реконструкцију римске политичке, привредне и културне историје.
На територији данашње Србије, у том времену, рођено је седамнаест римских императора. Били су то Трајан Деције, Хостилијан, Клаудије II Готски, Аурелијан, Проб, Максимин Херкулије, Констанције Хлор, Галерије, Максимин Даја, Флавије Север, Константин Велики, Лициније, Констанције II, Ветранион, Јовијан, Грацијан и Констанције III.
Sirmium
Ha једном од завоја реке Саве, на самој граници провинције Паноније, на стратешком месту на коме су се спајали главни римски путеви, под јужним обронцима Фрушке горе, између мочвара и речних рукаваца, од илиријског древног насеља, развио се град који су римљани прозвали Сирмијум.
У Сирмијуму се састајало неколико саобраћајница. Најважнија је она која је из Италије водила ка Сингидунуму и даље, према источним провинцијама Царства. Друга је повезивала дунавску границу са Сирмијумом. Још два пута су ишла на југ ка Далмацији, као и на запад, према ушћу реке Босне.
Остаци античког Сирмијума највећим делом су скривени испод данашње Сремске Митровице, 60 km западно од Београда, на северној обали реке Саве, у непосредној близини планине Фрушка гора.
Царска палата са хиподромом
Царска палата из четвртог века, идентификована је у остацима највеће грађевине искoпане у Сирмијуму. Палата је била правоугаоног облика са двориштем у средини. Данас су само фрагментално откривени њени делови. Добро су очувани уређаји за централно грејање - хипокаусти (носиоци дуплих подова за пролаз загрејаног ваздуха).
Око форума су до сада откривене терме, највероватније цара Лицинија.
Цео град су опасавале моћне зидине, а у његовом централном делу налазио се форум, на којем су се налазиле јавне грађевине.
Скулптуре, мозаици и фреске, које су откривене на подручију Сремске Митровице, показују да су у Сирмијуму радили прворазредни уметници и декоратери. Зато је и разумљиво што га Амијан Марцелин назива „многољудном славном мајком градова“ и што Теофилакт Симокат пише да је то „славан град, на великом гласу у Европи“.
Квалитетан рад је представљала глава Аполона. Пронађена је и глава Меркура, као и глава угледне римљанке.
У квалитетене радове спада и непотпуна статуа Диониса са крчагом у руци (недостају глава и ноге испод колена). Пронађене су и две статуе Викторије које су знатно оштећене.
"Сунчани сат" је израђен у облику шкољке са урезаним радијалним линијама, које означавају сунчане часове. Од казаљке је остао очуван само корен гвоздене шипке. Практичну вредност сату даје хоризонтална линија, која је урезана на лучној линији шкољке. На ту линију пада сенка казаљке сваког 21. марта и означава да је прошла једна година. Астрономске и математичке анализе су показале да је та хоризонтална линија урађена веома прецизно, и то у складу са географском ширином Сремске Митровице, а да је сат буквално непогрешив.
Данашњи Београд лежи на остацима некадашњег моћног античког града Сингидунума кој и су Римљани почели да граде у I веку.
Назив Сингидунум је сложеница од речи Синги и дунум. Реч дунум је келтског порекла и значи утврђење или град. Синги је било име трачког племена које је живело у околини. Положај Сингидунума, као пограничног града Римске империје који је лежао на траси моћне речне комуникације - Дунаву, био је од стратешког значаја.
Уз војни логор , Римљани су насељавали ветеране својих легија како би још више обезбедили своју границу. Претпоставља се да је војно насеље било на простору Доњег града. Насеље ветерана се временом ширило.Најпре је расло досељавањем трговаца, а затим и свих осталих. Од војног насеља настало је цивилно насеље.
Са централног трга, где је смештен римски форум са градским већем и управним зградама, шириле су се две главне улице дуж данашње Васине и Кнез Михаилове. Ту су се налазиле стамбене зграде античког града, вероватно скромније грађевине, као и бројне тржнице.
Да би се живот у Сингидунуму нормално одвијао, била је потребна и комунална инфраструктура. О томе говоре остаци римског водовода чија је траса ишла из правца Малог Мокрог Луга преко делова Звездаре и Врачара, Пионирског парка, све до Београдске тврђаве. О томе сведоче и остаци једне водоводне цеви у Римској дворани Бибилиотеке града Београда, као и остаци бројних канала у којима су биле смештене водоводне цеви.
У Сингидунуму је постојала снажна домаћа провинцијална уметност и занатство, којим су се задовољавале потребе града.
Пронађене скулптуре упућују на мешавину култура који су у граду постојали до краја IV века. На простору Београдске тврђаве, на више места, у објектима из турског доба као и из доба аустријске управе, изложени су камени споменици који потичу са разних локалитета на територији Сингидунума. У Великом барутном магацину - Барутани уДоњем граду налази се поставка Народног музеја са римским статуама, стелама, саркофазима и жртвеницима.
Виминацијум као значајно војно седиште и главни град римске провинције Moesia Prima поникао је на територији келтског племена Скордиска.
Са својим повољним положајем према Дунаву и луком, био је једна од најзначајнијих војних постаја. Град се налазио на раскрсници путева који су повезивали северни део Балканског полуострва са осталим деловима римске империје.
Готово да није било цара који није прошао кроз Виминацијум или у њему боравио дуже или краће време. Од посета римских императора најзначајнији су боравци Хадријана, Септимија Севера, Гордијана III, Филипа Арабљанина, Требонија Гала, Хостилијана, Диоклецијана, Константина Великог, Констанција I и Јулијана. Колико је познато, Грацијан је био последњи император који је посетио Виминацијум.
Остаци античког Виминацијума данас леже испод ареала села Стари Костолац и Дрмно, 3 km од Костолца и око 100 km југоисточно од Београда.
До сада су истражене следеће грађевине: амфитеатар, маузолеј, терме, porta
pretoria, меморије и аквадукт, а пронађено је и више од 13 500 гробова.
Првобитни амфитеатар, изграђен почетком II века, био је од дрвета. Током II века гради се нови од камена и дрвета. Овај објекат представља типичан пример провинцијалног амфитеатра, који се подиже уз војна утврђења у пограничним провинцијама европског дела Царства.
У централном делу амфитеатра, где су се одржавале игре, налази се арена овалног облика. Она представља централни простор равне површине покривен песком (harena), по коме је и добила име. Око арене се простире високи зид (balteus), који је био фреско осликан.
На основу резултата археолошких истраживања урађена је реконструкција дела амфитеатра.
Терме представљају типично римске грађевине. Као објекти јавног карактера појављују се у време Царства како у Риму тако и у провинцијама. Оне не представљају само места за одржавање хигијене већ и места за одмор и разне друштвене активности. Виминацијумске терме се могу издвојити не само по својој раскоши већ и специфичном архитектонском решењу. Археолошким ископавањима регистровано је укупно 5 конхи од којих су 4 у функцији тепидаријума (базени са топлом водом) док је пета конха представљала фригидаријум (базен са хладном водом). Остаци фреско-малтера указују да су терме биле раскошне. Под старијих терми који се налазио на стубићима од опека био је прекривен мозаиком. Велики број жижака указује на чињеницу да су терме коришћене и ноћу.
У оквиру локалитета презентоване су 3 меморије на две локације.
. Све гробне преграде биле су засведене. Сви гробови су опљачкани и уништени.
Друга меморија има девет гробних места. Меморија је грађена од опеке везане кречним малтером. Зидови су омалтерисани изнутра и на њима се уочавају трагови црвене, зелене и плаве боје. Посмртни остаци покојника нису нађени сем поједних ситних фрагмената дислоцираних костију.
Римски аквадукт је откривен у дужини од око 1000 метара. Аквадукт је зидан од камена који је везан кречним малтером. Стране аквадукта су заливене прво водонепропусним малтером, а затим кречним. Дно аквадукта је израђено од опека са печатима римских легија које су градиле овај аквадукт. У горњем делу аквадукт је био покривен масивним подним опекама. Аквадукт потиче из I века. Изванредан је грађевински и инжењерски подухват. Од изворишта до римског града и војног логора нагиб аквадукте износи 1-2 промила. На појединим местима налазе се уписана имена мај стора кој и су учествовали у његовој градњи. Аквадукт ј е срушен у првој половини V века приликом најезде Хуна.
У Виминацијуму је пре 1700 година живео сликар који је насликао такве слике на зидовима гробница да је њима пробио стандарде свога времена. Најзначајнија од њих јесте она коју су археолози назвали „Дивина“, и она се сматра најлепшом фреском касноантичке уметности. Због положаја руку ипогледа у страну добила је епитет „Мона Лиза касне антике“
Остаци античког Виминацијума, у виду археолошког налазишта, данас
представљају непокретно културно добро од изузетног значаја.
Гамзиград ce налази на територији која је почетком I века н.е. била укључена у Римско царство и то најпре као део Горње Мезије (Moesia Superior), а касније као део Приобалске Дакије (Dacia Ripensis). Осамдесетих година прошлог века међу ископинама блиставих мозаика и скулптура нађена је архиволта од туфо-пешчара на којој је уклесан натписFelix Romuliana. Тај налаз коначно сврстава Гамзиград у споменике римске дворске архитектуре.
Felix Romuliana се налази у селу Гамзиград,11 km западно од Зајечара, близу
магистралног пута Параћин-Зајечар. Од Београда овај локалитет је удаљен око 250 km.
Настанак Ромулијане везан је за име императора Каја Галерија Валерија Максимилијана који након победе над Персијанцима одлучује да сагради велику грађевину чијом би изградњом обележио место свог рођења и узвисио своју мајку Ромулу. Та победа омогућила му је да објави мит о себи и својој мајци - Ромула га је зачела са Марсом тако да он постаје син смртнице и бога рата, баш као што је и Диониса, Херкула и Асклепија родила мајка смртница док им је отац био врховни бог.
На територији Србије откривено је неколико портрета који се убрајају у најсјајније примере римске портретне уметности. Међу њима су и царски портрети од порфира који су пронађени у Гамзиграду.
Порфирна глава која је пронађена била је глава зрелог мушкарца припадала је статуи која је приказивала Галерија у натприродној величине са Земљином куглом у левој руци, и то у тренутку кад га богиња победе Викторија крунише тријумфалном круном. Круна на глави јасно упућује на Галеријеву велику победу над Персијанцима 297. године.
То је приказ самоувереног императора, који ужива особиту наклоност богова, у чијој је руци цео свет, а у круни - цела тетрархиЈа.
Мозаици су оно што Ромулијану чини драгуљем уметности позне антике. По лепоти и мајсторству израде ови мозаици превазилазе све оне који су прекривали подове најрепрезентативнијих грађевина тог времена:
Град Наис је заузимао средишњи положај у Горњој Мезији. Лежао је на десној обали Нишаве. Налазио се на чворишту трансбалканских путева. Град био важан административни, војни и економски центар. Наводи се да је у граду постојала радионица за израду предмета од сребра, што упућује да је град био једно од места где се производило оружје за римску војску.
Најзначајнији догађај повезан са Наисом десио се 269. године када је, у близини града, цар Клаудије II Готски у великој бици разбио војску Гота .
Више царских едиката потписаних у Наису између 315. и 334. године сведоче о Константиновим честим боравцима у родном граду. После смрти Константина, у Наису и даље бораве цареви, задржавајући се ту приликом дугих путовања, или се пак, припремају за борбу са супарницима. У V веку Наис страда од напада Хуна. После Хуна, град поново разарају Готи. Феликс Каниц, који је од 1850. године, у неколико наврата посећивао и бележио рушевине Ниша, обавио је прва обимнија истраживања античког Наиса.
Од извора Каменичке реке до Наиса је водио аквадукт који је град снабдевао
водом.
У граду су били присутни бројни култови, о чему сведоче налази жртвеника, скулптура и ситне бронзане пластике. Натписи са жртвеника указују да су претежно заступљени култови римских божанстава - Јупитера, Јуноне, Фортуне, Либера и Либере, Херкула али и Митре као и трачких или илирских божанства.
На територији Наиса или у његовој непосредној близини откривено је више значајних портрета.
Најзначајнији је портрет Константина Великог .
Скулптура Јупитера на трону најсликовитије је сведочанство о духовним стремљењима и естетским захтевима житеља Наиса у периоду када ј е римска држава била на врхунцу своје моћи.
Mediana je била предграђе античког Ниша. Од града је била удаљена три миље, како саопштава Амијан Марцелин. Настала је у време пуног процвата античког Naissusa (II - IV век) када град, захваљујући погодном географском положају на Балкану, постаје важан војнополитички и економски центар у коме се спајају путеви са разних страна Царства.
Економском, културном и урбанистичком интегритету Наиса и Медијане делом је, свакако, допринео и Константин I који је ту рођен.
Медијана захвата површину од приближно 40 хектара.
До сада је на овом подручју откривено и идентификовано неколико грађевина: вила са перистилом, немфеумом и термама, потом житница (horreum), водена кула.
Терме су на Медијани биле у саставу главне виле. Чинио их је низ међусобно повезаних просторија различите намене, а најзначајније су биле:
>свлачионица (apodyterium),
>вежбаоница (palestra),
>топло купатило (caldaria),
- хладно купатило (frigidarium)
>просторија за знојење (sudatorium),
Још од 312. пре нове ере, по пројекту етрурских архитеката, у римском царству грађени су бројни системи за водоснабдевање познати под називом аквадукт.
Водоторањ, којим се редовно завршавао сваки римски аквадукт и без кога се тешко може замислити дистрибуција воде у насељу, откривен је седамдесетих година током заштитних ископавања.
Уметност
У готово свим просторијама виле на Медијани пронађени су мозаици које су радили најбољи уметници тога времена. Најзначајнији од њих су били речно божанство, медуза и мозаик са геомериј ским и флоралним мотивима.
Свуда no Медијани - no насељу и no врту - постојале су статуе божанстава од белог мермера. Њима су представљена различита божанства која су у већини случајева имала лекарска својства:
Iustiniana Prima
Јустинијан је рођен у једном сеоцету крај Ниша - Таурисију па је из личних и политичких разлога поклањао велику пажњу сигурности и унапређењу Балкана, а посебно Средоземне Дакије и Дарданије. У првим годинама његове владавине обновио је Наис, Улпијану, Сингидунум и Виминацијум, док је у близини свог родног места подигао нов, велелепан град - Прву ЈустиниЈану (Iustiniana Prima). Битан податак Је и тај да је Царица Теодора, лепа и амбициозна жена цара Јустинијана, који је неизмерно волео, рођена је у селу Лебане па је могуће да је и она значајно утицала на свог мудрог и моћног мужа да изгради овај раскошни град.
Ово археолошко налазиште представља место где су пронађени остаци једног од највећих и најзначајнијих византијских градова у унутрашњости Балканског полуострва из VI века.
Остаци Царичиног града, у виду археолошког налазишта, данас представљају
непокретно културно добро од изузетног значаја.
После детаљног описа римских градова и палата на подручју наше земље може се закључити да она поседује велико богатство староримског наслеђа на територији Србије који су од немерљивог историјског и археолошког значаја. Ова триторија обухвата више од шест стотина километара и протеже се од Војводине до југа Србије - од Сирмијума (Сремске Митровице) до Царичиног града код Лебана. Римљани се представљају не само као освајачи и ратници, већ као једна високоразвијена цивилизација која је на овим просторима оставила за собом монументалне архитектонске споменике са аквадуктима, термима, гробницама, мозаицима, фрескама, скулптурама и другим уметничким садржајима који сведоче о естетици, стилу и квалитету живота.
